MUSEUM staff in Darlington are bracing themselves for another Roman invasion on Sunday.

Preparations are underway at Head of Steam Museum and Piercebridge Roman Fort for the third Roman Day.

Visitors to the Head of Steam, Darlington Railway Museum will see a Roman potter, military and civilian re-enactors, an exhibition about Piercebridge Roman Fort as well as a lecture and artefacts on display.

All the family are catered for with a wide range of family fun activities and fun menu in Coopers Caf.

For the first time at the museum, keen-eyed visitors will also witness the world's only Roman flea circus.

Using fleas for entertainment stretches as far back to Egyptian and Roman times, it is said that Caesar himself had a miniature coliseum in which he placed fleas and imagined them as gladiators battling to the death.

Roman fun continues at Piercebridge Roman Fort. Details on 01325 460532.
