MURDERED SARAH MUM IS HAVING A BABY; New arrival due in November.

Byline: KAREN ROCKETT

THE delighted mother of little murder victim Sarah Payne last night revealed she is pregnant.

Overjoyed Sara Payne is expecting her fifth child with husband Michael in November.

Sara, 34, said last night: "It is a new baby and a new life. I know Sarah will be wearing her biggest grin and will hopefully send us a rainbow. It is a strange time considering what happened to Sarah but we are absolutely delighted now we have got our heads round it."

Sara and Michael, whose heartbreak touched the nation after their eight-year-old daughter was murdered by paedophile Roy Whiting in 2000, are thrilled with the news, although the pregnancy wasn't planned.

But their joy is tinged with shock and relatives say the new baby will never replace their lost child.

Sara's mother Elizabeth said: "We are feeling a mixture of delight and shock. Sara and Michael have always been adamant they would not have any more children."

Friends and family hope the new baby will help heal the void left by the murder of Sarah, who was abducted and killed in a country lane near her grandparents home in Littlehampton, West Sussex three years ago.

Sara's mother Elizabeth added: "The baby will fill their lives up a bit and take their minds off the pain. Michael's up and down at the moment. He is pleased but he didn't expect it."

Asked if they were thinking of naming the new baby after Sarah, Elizabeth said there would never be another Sarah.

Sara is believed to be eight weeks pregnant.

The couple's other children are delighted at the news - Charlotte, eight, Lee, 16, and Luke, 14, are looking forward to a new brother or sister.

Sara added: "The whole family are delighted. There are smiles and happiness all round."

In a recent Sunday Mirror interview Sara spoke movingly to Denise Bulger, mother of murdered Jamie, about the toll the killing had taken on her marriage.

"Michael and I didn't stop loving each other, we were just afraid to say anything that might cause pain. It's getting better but it has taken three years."

Whiting, 42, was given a life sentence for the murder and must serve a minimum of 50 years.
