 MURDER EXPRESS BEGINS FALL SEASON
OLD-FASHIONED TRAIN IS SETTING FOR INTERACTIVE MYSTERY THEATER
HAWTHORNE, N.J., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Agatha Christie, Ian Fleming and Alfred Hitchcock all used the iron rail as a backdrop for some of the world's greatest murder mysteries. Now the public can return to the scene of the crime with "The Murder Express," scheduled to kick off its fall season in northern New Jersey on Sept. 13.
During a three-hour trip, the Murder Express recreates a journey on the fabled Orient Express, where a thrilling murder mystery production unfolds. The setting for this "whodunit" is aboard fully restored vintage railcars from the 1930s and 1940s, owned by the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway. Two of these cars are bi-level glass dome passenger cars.
This suspenseful ride into the past will depart from Historic Hawthorne Station in Hawthorne, N.J., and has two separate departure times. The first trip will depart at 1 p.m. and include a gourmet afternoon dinner. The second will depart at 6 p.m. and include a full course evening dinner. The cost for the Murder Express is $89 per person and includes hors d'oeuvres, gourmet menu, dessert samplers and an open bar including unlimited wine, beer and refreshments.
The Murder Express is interactive theater at its best. As passengers ride through the lush hills of northern New Jersey, professional actors entertain and stage an all-too-realistic murder. Then, in a tangled web of intrigue, passengers are pulled into the plot where everyone is a suspect. Each passenger will have an opportunity to solve the mystery before the nostalgic journey ends.
For further information, train departure dates and reservations, call Murder Express, 908-417-9345. Seating is limited. Murder Express is brought to you by Twentieth Century Limited and can be leased for private parties, corporate meetings and fund raising events.
The NYS&W Railway also will be hosting Fall Foliage Train Rides each weekend in the North Jersey area from Oct. 3-25. These five-hour rides feature the famous hand-fired steam engine No. 142, luxury seating and buffet meals during the trips to Newfoundland, N.J. and return. For more information on these excursions, call 800-366-NYSW, ext. 142.
