MUNSINGWEAR LICENSES BELLE NECKWEAR CO., INC.

 MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Munsingwear, Inc. (NYSE: MUN) continues to broaden its licensing program for the Munsingwear name through the signing of an exclusive long-term license with Belle Neckwear Co., Inc., covering men's and boys' neckwear. Belle Neckwear, established in 1920, is a privately held manufacturer of men's and boys' neckwear, mufflers and related accessories.
 According to Joe Hoeflich, president of Belle Neckwear, a comprehensive line of men's fashion neckwear, which will complement Munsingwear's proprietary and licensed products, will be offered for spring 1993 to department and specialty stores throughout the United States. The licensed products will be manufactured in the United States and will retail in the medium to better price range from $25 to $40. An inventory back-up program will be maintained with interim promotions planned. Sales and marketing of the Munsingwear neckwear will be directed by Marc Blumenthal, executive vice president and a partner of the company. Blumenthal stated that, "Munsingwear offers Belle Neckwear an additional opportunity for increased branded representation at the upscale retail level."
 Charles J. Campbell, president of Munsingwear, stated: "Licensing is the most effective way to broaden the marketing and awareness of Munsingwear. By licensing the Munsingwear name to selected manufacturers we are able to focus our attention on marketing our core men's golf apparel products while taking advantage of the growing demand at retail for branded apparel in areas in which we are not involved."
 Munsingwear, Inc., designs, manufactures, markets and licenses branded men's and boys' apparel under the Grand Slam, Grand Slam Tour, Munsingwear, Penguin Sport and Penguin Club labels. Domestic licensees include Fruit of the Loom for men's, women's and children's underwear and fleece activewear; Scope Imports, Inc. for men's woven sport shirts, shorts, sweaters, swimwear and nylon activewear; General Nitewear Corp. for men's and boys' sleepwear and robes; Monarch Hosiery Mills for men's hosiery; and Montgomery Ward for men's and boys' casual woven pants and lightweight jackets.
 The popularity of Munsingwear merchandise extends overseas. Men's and women's apparel, furnishings and accessories are manufactured and marketed under the Munsingwear and Grand Slam trademarks in Japan, Hong Kong and surrounding areas by ITOCHU Corporation and Descente for over 25 years.
