MUM'S BID TO HELP LO-CALS; Jean opening 'health' cafe.
JEANETTE Thompson not only slashed her dress size by half but now she has opened a little cafe to help others do the same.
The mum of one, from East Belfast, joined a slimming group in January year weighing 16-and-a-half stone, and squeezing into a curvaceous size 24. Today she is a trim 10 stone and is wearing size 12.
And Jeanette is helping others who want to eat more healthily in a new business venture with husband Steven.
The pair lost nine stones in 22 months and now work together at Cafe Lo-Cal where diners are guaranteed healthy dishes and ready-calculated "points" to match their diet.
Jeanette said: "I feel fantastic now I am at a healthy weight and can go to the shops to buy clothes off the rack.
"I had to have my wedding dress specially made in China and even then it was very uncomfortable because I needed it so fitted.
"After losing with the weight following the Slimming World method where I was allowed so many calorie 'sins' every day, I decided I would love to help other people who felt how I felt at the start of 2009.
"I had no energy to walk very far, I ate to make myself feel better but I just kept putting on more weight.
"When I took control of things I started to lose weight very steadily and so did Steven because he was eating the same food as myself.
"Now our cafe is offering people the chance to have a nice meal or snack without having to worry about breaking their diet.
"We can advise how many points are in all of our foods and everything is low fat but very tasty.
"We think it's the first cafe in Northern Ireland to offer this and now we've got ourselves started we're going to start soup and stew nights, Christmas meals and kids' specials."
More information is available on Facebook at Cafe Lo-Cal.
