 MULTIMEDIA ELECTS GRIMES PRESIDENT AND COO
 GREENVILLE, S.C., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of


Multimedia, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: MMEDC) today elected J. William Grimes President and Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation. He was also elected a member of the Board of Directors. Grimes has been Vice President-Corporate Group Executive of the Company. The office of President has been held by Walter E. Bartlett, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Multimedia.
 Announcing the Board's action, Bartlett said "Bill Grimes has been a strong member of Multimedia's management team and brings a wealth of talent and experience to his new position as president of the Company. He has proven himself time after time one of the finest executives in the communications industry. Grimes' successful leadership of the country's largest Spanish-language communication company is widely recognized, and before that his success in building ESPN into the nation's largest cable network gained industry-wide acclaim."
 Grimes remarked, "With a his a most exciting company. I hope to contribute by providing counsel and support to the divisions and by assisting Walter in developing corporate planning and strategies."
 Grimes joined Multimedia in August 1991 as Vice President-Corporate Group Executive of the Corporation. He has worked out of the Chairman's office on special assignments which included acquisitions and government relations, and also assumed management of Multimedia Broadcasting Company from last October until a new division president was named.
 Before joining Multimedia, Bill Grimes was President and CEO of Univision Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards, Inc. and the country's largest Spanish-language communications company. He joined ESPN, Inc. in 1981 as Executive Vice President and was President and CEO of the company from 1982 to 1988.
 Other positions held by Grimes include Vice President CBS Broadcast Group; Senior Vice President CBS Radio; Vice President Personnel CBS, Inc.; Vice President AM stations, CBS Radio; Vice President, General Manager WEEI Radio, Boston, Mass.
 During his career, Grimes has served as director of both the National Cable Television Association and the National Association of Broadcasters, the respective industries' lobbying representatives in Washington, D.C. Additionally, he was a Director and Executive Committee Member of the Cable Programming Academy and the Cable Advertising Bureau. He was named 1987 Cable Television Executive of the Year by CTAM, USA Today's 1987 Sports Executive of the Year and Television/CATV Executive of the Year 1987 by The Gallagher Report.
 Multimedia, Inc. is a diversified media communications company headquartered in Greenville, S.C. which publishes 12 daily and 49 non- daily newspapers, owns and operates five television and eight radio stations and a video production company, operates more than 100 cable television franchises in four states and produces and syndicates quality television programming, including the Phil Donahue, Sally Jessy Raphael and Jerry Springer Shows.
