MULTIMEDIA CEO RESIGNS; BARTLETT, SBARRA TO HEAD COMPANY

 GREENVILLE, S.C., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- J. William Grimes, president and CEO of Multimedia, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: MMEDC), announced today the resignation of his position with the company to pursue other opportunities in the media business. In accepting his resignation, Walter E. Bartlett, chairman of the board, acknowledged differences existed with Grimes, but he added the company has great respect for Grimes' ability and wishes him well.
 Bartlett will resume the post of CEO, a position formerly held by him from 1989 until April of this year. Donald D. Sbarra, senior vice president of Multimedia, Inc. and chairman of Multimedia Calevision, will have responsibility for supervising the operating divisions of the company.
 A leading cable and broadcast executive, Sbarra joined Multimedia in 1981 as president of the Cablevision division. Bartlett said, "His skills and experience in the company will assure the continued successful operation of our businesses."
 Sbarra was elected senior vice president of Multimedia, Inc., in October 1987, a member of Multimedia's board of directors in April 1988, and chairman of the Cable Division in 1993. Sbarra is a director and a member of the executive committee of the Cable Television Advertising Bureau; a director of the National Cable Television Association and a member of the Association's Copyright Committee; a member of the board of directors of C-SPAN cable network; and a director of Cable in the Classroom, a project of the Cable Alliance for Education.
