MULTI-COLOR REPORTS SECOND QUARTER 1992 RESULTS CINCINNATI, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Multi-Color Corporation
(NASDAQ: LABL) today announced results for its second quarter ended Sept. 29, 1991.
Net sales for the second quarter of fiscal 1992 totaled $15,676,000, down 10 percent from $17,467,000 in the year-earlier period. The net loss for the period was ($252,000) or ($.11) per share on 2,221,000 average shares, compared with net income of $14,000 or $.01 per share on 2,217,000 average shares, a year ago. John C. Court, president and chief executive officer, commented, "This loss resulted principally from weak sales, higher overhead associated with the two new facilities and an expanded marketing and development effort. At present, sales have improved significantly and Multi-Color should show better, hopefully much better results during the next six months. In the meantime, we see a continuing improvement in the contribution of our new facilities, helping Multi-Color succeed in existing markets while opening many new possibilities for future growth in sales and profitibility ." Multi-Color Corporation is one of the largest manufacturers of printed labels for branded consumer products in the United States. The company's shares are traded over-the-counter under the National Market Systems symbol LABL.
