MUCC AND MICHIGAN STATE PARKS RECEIVE BOOST FROM FIRST OF AMERICA

LANSING, Mich., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- First of America Bank announced that its proud tradition of supporting the communities and customers it serves recently took on a new dimension with a $10,000 donation to the Michigan United Conservation Clubs' (MUCC) effort to preserve Michigan's state parks.
"First of America feels that our state parks are an important part of the quality of life in Michigan and in America. This generous contribution is the bank's way of helping Michigan celebrate the 75th anniversary of its state parks," said Tom Washington, MUCC executive director.
With state government funding of the parks' budget having decreased from 80 percent to an all-time low of 20 percent in recent decades, many citizens and business leaders have started to realize that drastic measures need to be taken to ensure that Michigan's "crown jewels" do not fade from existence.
Robert Kinning, president of First of America Bank-Central, says contributing to an organization like MUCC is a good way to supplement the front lines of the battle to preserve Michigan's parks. "If the beauty and integrity of our parks are not maintained, our natural heritage will be in jeopardy," he commented. "MUCC has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to making a difference in what our children experience in their state parks. We're happy to return the favor."
