MTF announces release of newly patented demineralized bone matrix allograft tissue product.

The Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation (MTF), Edison, NJ, announced it has released DBX Demineralized Bone Matrix, a new patented form of human allograft tissue processed in its Edison, NJ, facility. MTF says DBX matrix is a combination of demineralized bone coupled with a unique natural carrier and provides numerous in-use advantages when compared with other currently marketed demineralized bone matrix tissue forms.

Demineralized bone matrices have been used as void fillers in musculoskeletal surgery for many years, and the market in the US for these DBM tissue forms is estimated to exceed $125 million annually. MTF says it will continue to distribute its Grafton Demineralized Bone Matrix, which is processed by Osteotech, Inc., Eatontown, NJ.

Synthes of Paoli, PA, has contracted with MTF to assist in educating clinicians about DBX.
