MTEL TO SELL DIGITAL MICROWAVE SYSTEM IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

 JACKSON, Miss., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Telecommunication Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: MTEL) announced today that it has agreed to sell the assets of Mtel Digital Services, Inc., the company's digital point-to-point microwave system based in Irvine, Calif., to Linkatel pacific, L.P. for a purchase price of $7 million.
 The microwave system, which provides long distance services in Southern California, is the only system of this type operated by Mtel and was viewed by management as a non-strategic business. The transaction is subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions, including the receipt of federal and state regulatory approvals and the arrangement of financing by the purchaser.
 Mobile Telecommunication Technologies Corp., headquartered in Jackson, Miss., is engaged in businesses which include nationwide paging and voice messaging services (provided through SkyTel Corp.) in the United States; nationwide paging services provided through joint venture companies in the United Kingdom and Mexico; other investments in international messaging through Mtel International; and an investment in American Mobile Satellite Corp. (AMSC). SkyTel corp., based in Washington, is the principal subsidiary of Mtel and the leading nationwide wireless messaging company with 241,400 units in service in the United States as of June 30, 1993. Mtel's common stock is quoted on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol MTEL.
