MTC ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGIES CO. RESPONDS TO INQUIRIES REGARDING NEW REGULATIONS ON TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACTIVITIES

RICHMOND, British Columbia, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to inquiries, MTC Electronic Technologies Co., Ltd. (NASDAQ: MTCEF), stated today that it anticipates no changes in its operations as a result of new regulations on telecommunications activities recently issued by the Chinese Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
The new regulation requires all telecommunication enterprises in China to apply for a new five-year license, and the company stated that its joint ventures will apply as required.
As announced earlier, MTC's cellular paging and telephone joint ventures in Hubei Province and Dongguan have been approved previously by all appropriate Chinese government agencies and have received their business licenses. Under Article 40 of China's Foreign Economic Contract Law, once such approvals have been obtained, a Sino-foreign joint venture is not subject to nullification or cancellation.
The Hubei joint venture is with a subsidiary of the Hubei Provincial Post and Telecommunication Administration, which is the local agency that is authorized to issue licenses under the new regulations. The Dongguan joint venture is with the Dongguan Security Service, a local police instrumentality of the Guangdong Province Public Security Bureau.
MTC Electronic Technologies Co., Ltd., is a Canadian company headquartered in Richmond, near Vancouver, British Columbia. The company holds interests in joint venture companies that manufacture telecommunications products and will provide telecommunications services in the People's Republic of China. It also manufactures and sells MTC brand and private label consumer electronics in North America.
