MQM-London leader Dr Hasan Arif found dead in Karachi.
KARACHI -- Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)-London leader Professor Dr Hasan Zafar Arif was found dead within the limits of Ibrahim Hyderi police station in Karachi on Sunday.
According to police, Arif, aged about 70, was found dead from a car in Rehri Goth near coastal area of Ibrahim Hyderi. He was a resident of DHA Phase VI. Dr Arif was an ex-professor at Philosophy Department in University of Karachi.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. JPMC official Seemi Jamali informed that the body did not bear any torture or bullet injuries, adding cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem examination. Police have started further investigation into the murder.
On October 22, 2016, Sindh Rangers had arrested Arif and Kunwar Khalid Yunus of MQM-London into custody outside Karachi Press Club when they were going to hold a press conference.
He had been booked for allegedly facilitating a hate speech of MQM founder Altaf Hussain but in April 2017, he was released from Central Jail Karachi order of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
