MQM London, South Africa suspected to be behind Ali Raza Abidi's killing: police.

KARACHI: Sindh Police on Wednesday hinted involvement of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement's London and South Africa chapters behind the tragic assassination of former lawmaker Ali Raza Abidi. Abidi was shot multiple times outside his residence in Khayaban-e-Ghazi neighbourhood of DHA by unknown assailants on December 25, who fled from the scene.

He was shifted to PNS Shifa Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his wounds. Speaking to the press, SSP South Pir Muhammad Shah said that the investigation conducted so far has shown that members of the London and South Africa group arrived in Karachi prior to Abidi's assassination.

The investigation, however, is still under way, the official added. Authorities have decided to probe the suspects affiliated with MQM-London jailed in different cases, the SSP said.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, earlier in a meeting with the deceased's father, said that a significant arrest" had been made in the case. Shah apprised Abidi'sfather of the probe conducted so far and informed that the key arrest was made from Karachi airport.

He assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
