MP calls to ban bullfights.

TYNESIDE'S representative in Brussels has called for a ban on bullfighting in Europe.

North East MEP Fiona Hall has shown her support by signing a life-sized model bull on display in the European Parliament building.

The move comes after Fiona, who lives in Northumberland, was informed up to quarter of a million bulls are killed in the blood sport every year.

She said: "Bullfighting is cruel, and the bulls involved suffer a very painful death.

"Across Europe, increasing numbers of people take the view that the cultural tradition of bullfighting weighs less in the balance than the wellbeing of the humans and the animals involved."
