MOTOROLA LAUNCHES 68000 DEVELOPER PROGRAM; THIRD PARTY PLAN FEATURES EXTENSIVE MARKETING SUPPORT

AUSTIN, Texas, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola's High Performance Microprocessor Division today announced the formation of the Motorola 68000 Developer Program, a comprehensive third-party program that provides tools developers with various levels of marketing and technical support for their 68000-based product development.
The program's goal is to mutually serve Motorola's hardware and software tools developers, as well as their shared customers. By strengthening the bond between Motorola and its developers, the company will expand the line of high-quality, robust development tools available to its customers.
"Motorola has one of the largest, most established third-party software portfolios in the industry, and through this program we will dramatically increase our mutual value to our customers," said Jim Reinhart, Motorola's M68000 manager of marketing and applications. "We are confident this program will help Motorola continue to ensure that its customers have access to a comprehensive set of integrated, easy-to- use tools that help them speed their products to market."
The Motorola 68000 Developer Program is designed to be open, flexible and interactive. Because developers' needs vary, Motorola will work closely with each individual developer to help meet their marketing and technical goals. Following is a sampling of the services available at two membership levels, Gold and Platinum:
 Gold
-- Listing in Motorola's 68K Source book distributed to Motorola
 customers worldwide
-- Inclusion in quarterly field mailings to Motorola's extensive,
 worldwide, field sales force
-- Submissions to Motorola quarterly newsletter, 68K Connection
 -- Technical phone support
 -- Tradeshow support
 -- Public relations support
 Platinum
 -- All Gold benefits
-- Strategic meetings with Motorola executives
-- Higher-level marketing and public relations support
-- Eligibility for developer products to be resold by Motorola
 -- Strategic 68000 market information
Initially, most developers are enrolled as Gold members with the potential to become Platinum. Motorola will recognize those developers displaying the highest levels of contribution to the global success of the 68000 Family by elevating them to the Platinum level. Motorola will announce the initial group of Platinum vendors in May.
Motorola supports more than 200 third-party hardware and software developers nationwide. The Developer Program illustrates Motorola's strong commitment to support and reward developers supporting 68000 Family products. Developers can register for the program by calling Motorola's toll-free developer hotline, 800-367-8363.
Having 1992 worldwide sales of $4.5 billion, Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector is the largest U.S.-based broad line supplier of semiconductors, with a balanced portfolio of more than 50,000 devices.
