 MOTOROLA GROUNDBREAKING LAUNCHES EXPANSION PROJECT
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola Inc.

(NYSE: MOT) today broke ground for a second expansion of its facility here. The facility, world headquarters of its Paging and Telepoint Systems Group, will grow by roughly 84,000 square feet to approximately 506,000 square feet.
"The growth of our paging business and of our emerging telepoint business has caused a virtual doubling of our employment here in the past five years, necessitating this expansion," said Hector Ruiz, senior vice president and general manager of Motorola's Paging Products Group, and facility site manager. "This year marks our 10th year in Palm Beach County. Our expansion is indicative of our commitment to continued growth of our South Florida Operations."
Palm Beach County Commissioner Carol Elmquist added, "This evidence of Motorola's commitment to Palm Beach County is outstanding. The company's participation in the community and their contribution to the local economy is significant. We welcome this event."
The expansion, estimated at a $6 million investment, will house engineering, design, and administrative personnel.
