 WILSONVILLE, Ore., Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced it has named Fuad Musa, 55, as vice president and general manager of the System Design Division (SDD). A technology and business leader at Motorola for the past 29 years, Musa was most recently the director of strategic programs for Motorola's ASIC division. Musa will be responsible for overall SDD operations and will report directly to Waldo J. (Jay) Richards, Mentor Graphics' senior vice president of product operations. "We are delighted to have Fuad join our executive management team as he brings to Mentor Graphics extensive technical and business experience in the semiconductor and ASIC industries, in addition to an intimate working knowledge of the EDA industry," stated Richards. "Fuad has a firsthand understanding of our systems' and ASIC customers' requirements for leading EDA technology and value-added services. As vice president of SDD, Fuad will play a critical strategic role as Mentor Graphics continues to pioneer advancements in EDA."

 Musa worked in Motorola's semiconductor sector for 29 years and is recognized as a semiconductor and ASIC expert. He holds 20 U.S. patents in IC design, mixed analog/digital, microprocessors and telecommunications. He is a Motorola Dan Nobles Fellow, which is the highest recognition given by Motorola to an employee, and is a Science Advisory Board Associate. Musa is one of the founders of the CAD Framework Initiative (CFI) and is a past chairman of Open Verilog International (OVI). "During the past few years, Fuad has led the industry in developing partnerships between Motorola, leading EDA companies, and major computer and telecommunications customers to develop leading-edge ASIC design environments and to encourage standardization," stated Richards. "Fuad knows how to promote cooperation among EDA companies to facilitate integration and standards for the benefit of the end-user community and the continued success of the EDA industry in general."
 Since joining Motorola in 1965, Musa has held a variety of technical and business management positions. He led the design and development of several Motorola flagship products including members of the 6800 microprocessor family. As a business manager, Musa directed and played a strategic role in the growth of Motorola's MOS Logic, MOS Semi-custom and Telecom Product Lines.
 Musa holds a B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E. from Arizona State University.
