 AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola's (NYSE: MOT) High Performance Microprocessor Division announced today that Wind River Systems', Inc. (NASDAQ: WIND) VxWorks(R) real-time software will be available through Motorola's worldwide sales and distribution channels by first quarter 1994. Under the agreement, Motorola will offer VxWorks for the 68000 Family of microprocessors including the 68040. Part of Wind River's WindPower(TM) product line, VxWorks combines a real-time operating system with core tools for developing custom embedded applications. As part of the agreement, Motorola and Wind River will also offer VxWorks for the next generation 68060 product by mid 1994. The signing of the reseller agreement elevates Wind River Systems to Platinum status in Motorola's Third Party Developer Program. The Platinum level is reserved for developers displaying the highest level of contribution to the global success of the 68000 Family.

 The VxWorks Advantage
 Scalable Microkernel Design
 At the heart of the VxWorks run-time system lies the highly efficient wind microkernel, which supports a full range of real-time features including fast multi-tasking, interrupt support and both pre- emptive and round-robin scheduling. The modular run-time system is fully scalable, allowing the user to configure VxWorks for a wide range of applications -- from small, stand-alone devices such as fax machines to complex, distributed projects such as factory flow automation systems.
