 MOTOROLA AND SAGEM ENTER INTO NEW CONSORTIUM AGREEMENT
 ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola's


(NYSE: MOT) European Cellular Infrastructure Division (ECID) announced today a consortium agreement with the French company Sagem, the second largest supplier of telecommunications equipment in France.
 The consortium will co-operate on the basis of an exclusivity arrangement to secure contracts for the supply, installation and operational support of infrastructure equipment for the pan-European Digital Cellular standard -- Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) -- throughout France.
 The consortium will be led by Sagem as the prime contractor with Motorola handling the manufacture and fulfillment of GSM infrastructure equipment. The agreement also provides Sagem with responsibility for elements of local in-country assembly of base site equipment.
 Both companies in the consortium will play an equally active role in the marketing, planning, demonstration and submission of proposals to current GSM operators in France.
 By utilizing Motorola's expertise in digital cellular technology and Sagem's knowledge of the French telecommunications marketplace, the consortium has defined an extensive program of support capabilities including network planning, software applications development, technical training, customer support and maintenance services.

 Motorola's ECID equipment for mobile cellular networks is already in extensive use throughout Europe with analog TACS 900 MHz systems in operation in the United Kingdom, Austria and Spain. Digital cellular systems conforming to the pan-European Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) specification are being supplied to Cellnet in the U.K., Telefonica in Spain and Comvik in Sweden. In Germany, Motorola is also an approved supplier to the Deutsche Bundespost Telekom for their D1 network.
