 MOTOROLA AND ALEXANDER ANNOUNCE SETTLEMENT
 ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola, Inc. and


Alexander Manufacturing Company of Mason City, Iowa, announced today that a settlement has been reached in the November 1990 lawsuit between the two companies.
 "Motorola is extremely pleased with the outcome of today's announcement," said Wolf Pavlok, corporate vice president and general manager, U.S. Markets Division for Motorola's Pan American Cellular Subscriber Group. "I am satisfied that our two companies were able to resolve this matter without further litigation and will proceed in accordance with the agreed terms."
 Alexander's president, Richard Alexandres, stated, "Alexander is satisfied with the resolution of this litigation and is pleased that the company will be able to concentrate on selling its products, and will continue to be able to compete in the marketplace."
 Motorola took legal action against Alexander contending that the company infringed 10 United States patents assigned to Motorola and engaged in unfair competition. Alexander asserted unfair competition and related counterclaims against Motorola. Motorola obtained a preliminary injunction with regard to the Soren Patent. The Soren Patent covers the battery design for the MicroTAC Digital Personal Communicator(TM) Telephone.
 Specific details of the settlement will remain confidential. However, a consent decree has been entered.
