MOTOROLA'S MICROTAC LITE BREAKS ANOTHER WEIGHT BARRIER

MOTOROLA'S MICROTAC LITE BREAKS ANOTHER WEIGHT BARRIER
NEW ORLEANS, La., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola's MicroTAC Lite,

already the lightest and most advanced cellular telephone available, has just gotten even lighter.
On the eve of the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association's (CTIA) convention in New Orleans, Motorola announced that it will introduce a new version of its MicroTAC Lite(tm) Digital Personal Communicator Telephone -- weighing just under 7.5 ounces (212 grams).
The slimming of the original MicroTAC Lite -- introduced in August 1991, having broken the 8-ounce barrier -- is now breaking the 7.5-ounce barrier due to design refinements. Motorola will begin shipping the lighter version model in March.
This phone, at an even lighter weight, still maintains the important body friendly form factor of the original MicroTAC Lite without sacrificing the same user-friendly design. The talk time, which is specified at 45 minutes minimum, is typically over one hour in many system applications.
"Continuing design enhancements allow Motorola to offer our customers even lighter, more convenient MicroTAC Lites," said Robert N. Weisshappel, senior vice president and general manager for Motorola's Pan American Cellular Subscriber Group.
Weisshappel added, "As the world's leading manufacturer of cellular telephones, we are once again delivering on our commitment to provide the most advanced technology to our customers."
Motorola is the world's leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of cellular systems, infrastructure equipment and subscriber products. The company is also one of the leading providers of electronic equipment, systems and components and services for worldwide markets.
