BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), today announced plans to demonstrate at COMDEX/Fall '93 the growing industry support for its EMBARC(SM) one-way wireless messaging network through a variety of new wireless messaging capabilities.
"Many industry leaders are recognizing the benefits of paging technology's one-way, one-to-many broadcast capabilities and the efficiencies EMBARC can offer to their customers," said Steve Brendle, vice president, general manager of EMBARC.
Industry support for EMBARC is evidenced by the growing list of manufacturers, software developers and service providers who are incorporating it into their products and services. All of the following will be demonstrated at COMDEX Booth L-1044, Nov. 15-19:
-- PDA Communications -- Manufacturers of the new Casio Z-7000, Tandy Z-PDA and GRiD 2390 personal digital assistants have designed their devices for compatibility with EMBARC. Users can subscribe to EMBARC messaging and news services, such as USA Today, Reuters and HeadsUp!
-- EMBARC Motorola NewsCard(TM) -- EMBARC will distribute the EMBARC Motorola NewsCard, a PCMCIA Advanced Information Receiver, through retail outlets with the Casio, Tandy and GRiD PDAs. The NewsCard receives and stores EMBARC messages whether it's inserted in a personal communications device or carried separately.
-- Reuters Financial News Updates Service -- EMBARC subscribers can now receive hourly business, financial and general news updates from Reuters on their mobile computers.
-- RadioMail(R) Integration -- EMBARC users will soon be accessible to subscribers to the RadioMail wireless messaging service which provides connections to most wired and wireless networks.
-- Mortgage Bankers Application -- Mortgage lenders can now use EMBARC to broadcast rate updates simultaneously to all of their brokers, increasing productivity levels for both the lenders and the brokers. Ethos Corporation of Boulder, Colo., developed the software, called Ubiquitous, which automatically inserts the revised rates into computation programs.
-- Wireless Database Tools -- Corporations will soon have the ability and tools to develop custom Windows databases for mobile workers that can be updated wirelessly via EMBARC. Kedwell Software of Portsmouth, N.H., will release an upgraded version of its popular
