MORTON INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS EARNINGS PER SHARE FOR FISCAL 1994 BETWEEN $4.10 AND $4.40

CHICAGO, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Morton International's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Charles S. Locke projected fiscal 1994's earnings per share in the range of $4.10 to $4.40 at the company's annual meeting today. The company's earnings before special charges and accounting changes were $3.25 per share for the prior fiscal year ended June 30, 1993.
``The outlook for fiscal 1994 is exciting. For all three of our businesses, we anticipate strong sales and profit growth,'' said Locke. The forecast assumes that there will be no significant change in the world's economies.
Morton expects record-breaking sales and profits in fiscal 1994 for its airbag business. The increased demand for driver- and passenger- side inflators in the United States, and the expansion of operations in Europe will provide growth opportunities for airbags.
Morton's salt business should have another outstanding year. Last year's severe winter storms depleted inventories in the United States; consequently, fiIscal 1994's pricing has increased.
Locke also predicted good growth for the specialty chemicals business in the next year as Morton continues to bring new products to the marketplace, develop new global growth opportunities and take advantage of technology transfers among its own businesses.
Morton International is a Chicago-based manufacturer and marketer of specialty chemicals, automotive inflatable restraint systems and salt.
