 MORSE SHOE NAMES SPOKANE SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CFO
 CANTON, Mass., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Malcolm L. Sherman, president


and chief executive officer of Morse Shoe, Inc., announced today that Earle J. Spokane has been elected senior vice president, chief financial officer of Morse Shoe, Inc. Spokane will succeed James C. Collins, who was acting chief financial officer since the resignation of John J. Garand in April 1992. Spokane will have responsibility for finance, MIS, distribution centers, traffic and administration.
 In making the announcement, Sherman said, "Earle Spokane brings to Morse Shoe a wealth of experience in retail finance. His knowledge of systems and distribution will be invaluable to us."
 Most recently, Spokane was associated with Conston, Inc. as executive vice president-finance. Previously, he was senior vice president-finance and secretary of Stuarts Department Stores, Inc. Formerly, he was executive vice president-finance for both the Lerners and Lane Bryant divisions of The Limited, Inc. During his tenure with the Miller-Wohl Company, Inc., he rose to the position of vice president-finance. Prior to that association, he was director of accounting for Quote Me, Inc., having begun his career with S.D. Leidesdorf & Co.
 Spokane earned his bachelor of science degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his master of science degree in business from Columbia University.
 Morse Shoe sells popular priced family footwear through 500 Fayva stores and through leased self-selection footwear departments in over 500 major discount department store locations throughout the United States. Through its Lowell division, Morse Shoe manufactures and markets branded professional duty footwear for nurses and other brands of comfort casual footwear which it sells to independent retailers, primarily through its Nurse-Mates(R) and Soft Spots(R) brands.
