MORRISON KNUDSEN SIGNS JOINT VENTURE AGREEMENT
 WITH UKRAINIAN GEOTECHNICAL FIRM
BOISE, Idaho, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire -- Morrison Knudsen Corp. (MK) (NYSE: MRN) announced today that MK has signed a joint-venture agreement with SPETSTAMPONAZHGEOLOGIA (STG), of the Republic of Ukraine, to market and apply a proprietary grouting technology in the Western Hemisphere.
STG, a large geotechnical research, engineering and application firm, developed the clay-based grouting technology for the control of groundwater flow in underground mines. The technology has been employed to reduce water flows in many geological conditions and to control the movement of hazardous liquid wastes.
"This agreement marks a significant milestone in MK's commitment to new and evolving technologies and to business relationships within the Commonwealth of Independent States," said William J. Agee, MK chairman and chief executive officer. "We believe the successful application of this unique technology in the United States will enable our Ukrainian partner to rapidly attain its free-market goals."
During the past 20 years, STG has completed more than 200 large-scale grouting projects and the technology was successfully applied under extremely hostile conditions to prevent the migration of radioactive liquids following the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster.
In addition to the joint-venture agreement in the Western Hemisphere, MK's Environmental Services Division will work with STG to develop business opportunities in the new republics of the former Soviet Union.
Morrison Knudsen Corp. is an international company serving the environmental, industrial processing, power and transportation market with complete development, design/engineering, construction, operating and financial services.
