MORRISON KNUDSEN ARGENTINA RAIL FACILITY RECEIVES FIRST CONTRACT

BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Morrison Knudsen Corp. (NYSE: MRN) (MK) announced today that its recently acquired Buenos Aires, Argentina, rail manufacturing facility has received its first-ever contract, overhauling electric passenger coaches.
"After only two months, our San Martin complex has already received its first contract, which underscores Argentina's immediate need for quality locomotives and transit cars," William J. Agee, MK chairman and chief executive officer, said. "That is exactly the reason why MK invested in Buenos Aires, and we couldn't be more pleased that Argentina so quickly demonstrated its confidence in MK's manufacturing capability."
The contract was awarded by Subterraneo de Buenos Aires to Morrison Knudsen and its Argentinean partner, Cometrans S.A., for the overhaul of the Spanish-manufactured electric passenger coaches.
Last June, MK and Cometrans purchased the former Fabrica Military facility (500,000 square feet) at San Martin, which presently employs 215 workers.
In turn, MK and Cometrans have teamed with a third partner, IDESA S.A., to form Morrison Knudsen Rail System of Argentina, which operates the San Martin factory.
Morrison Knudsen Rail System of Argentina is dedicated to the manufacture and repair of railway equipment, including passenger cars, locomotives and components.
Morrison Knudsen Corp. serves the world construction, transportation, environmental, industrial and power markets as an engineer, contractor and manufacturer, offering complete development, operations and financial services.
