MORRISON KNUDSEN ANNOUNCES WILLIAM H. LATHROP
TO HEAD McCONNELL DOWELL OF AUSTRALIA
BOISE, Idaho, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- William H. Lathrop, who has 25 years of experience as an engineering and construction executive in the United States and Australia, was named chief executive officer of McConnell Dowell Corp. Ltd. by the Australia-based construction firm's board of directors. Lathrop replaces Douglas Lowery as chief executive officer.
Morrison Knudsen Corp. (MK) (NYSE: MRN), of Boise, purchased 49 percent of McConnell Dowell in 1991.
Lathrop comes to McConnell Dowell from Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas, a New York City-based construction and engineering company where he was senior vice president in charge of the company's operations in the eastern United States.
"During his career, Bill Lathrop has made significant contributions to the development of several transportation systems in the U.S. and Australia," said William J. Agee, MK's chairman and chief executive officer. "He has the experience and obvious management skills to lead McConnell Dowell to a new level of success in Australia, New Zealand and throughout the Pacific Rim."
Lathrop has played key roles in project management, planning, design and construction management on several mass transit projects in the United States, including those in Baltimore, Atlanta, New Orleans and San Francisco, and Adelaide and Brisbane in Australia where he worked for six years.
He graduated from Cornell University with a degree in civil engineering and later obtained a master's degree from Stanford.
