OSU wraps up baseball early signings

CORVALLIS - Oregon State wrapped up its baseball recruiting for the 2005-06 early signing period with coach Pat Casey's announcement of 10 letters of intent Wednesday.

Outfielder Scotty Berke (Las Vegas), infielder Jackson Evans (Vancouver, Wash.), right-handed pitcher Tyler Graham (Shingle Sprigs, Calif.), right-handed pitcher Chad Nading (Anchorage), catcher Ryan Ortiz (San Diego), right-handed pitcher Jorge Reyes (Warden, Wash.) and infielder Steven Samples (Vancouver, Wash.) were signed out of high school.

Infielder Taylor Green (Courtenay, B.C.), right-handed pitcher D.J. Lidyard (Buckley, Wash.) and infielder/right-handed pitcher Steve Marquardt (Kennewick, Wash.) were signed out of junior college.

Tyrell Poggemeyer of Pleasant Hill High School had previously signed with the Beavers.

UO's LaVoie finishes 31st at men's golf tournament

EL PASO, Texas - Oregon's Gregg LaVoie shot a 5-over-par 76 on Tuesday and finished 30th at the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic.

For the tournament, LaVoie finished at 12-over 225.

Luke List of Vanderbilt shot a 68 and led wire-to-wire to win the tournament at 13-under 200.
