 MORGAN-GRAMPIAN ACQUIRES U.S. RADIO & MUSIC WEEKLY;
 THE GAVIN REPORT ACQUISITION EXPANDS U.S. PUBLISHING DIVISION
 LONDON, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Morgan-Grampian plc, a United Newspapers company, has purchased The Gavin Report, Inc., publisher of The Gavin Report, the San Francisco-based weekly magazine covering radio and music.
 The Gavin Report will join Morgan-Grampian's Spotlight Publications division, which publishes Music Week, the CIN Charts, and Music Business International in the U.K., and which publishes a range of music communications titles in the U.S. through its subsidiary PSN Publications, Inc.
 The Gavin Report is positioned at the junction of the radio and record industries, with an editorial focus on airplay chart information and analysis for professionals involved in the production, promotion and broadcast of all radio music formats.
 Other activities of the 35-year-old publication include record mailing fulfillment, on-line database and video showcase services, as well as a highly successful radio and music seminar.
 Doug Shuard, managing director of Spotlight Publications, Ltd., said: "This acquisition underlines our intention to build on our position as the major player serving the global music market.
 "The Gavin Report is a highly respected magazine with enormous potential for development. We aim to fulfill that potential by adding our own knowledge of the market, a broad publishing expertise and the marketing muscle of a large organization."
 The acquisition brings the total number of Spotlight titles serving the international audio/visual entertainment industries to 12 and means that the company now has operational bases in all the key music centers of London, New York and the U.S. West Coast. Ron Fell, president of The Gavin Report, said: "We had reached a point where we needed someone else to take us to the next level. We are confident that, in the hands of Spotlight Publications, The Gavin Report will realize the aspirations we all share for the company."
 David Dalton, group publishing editor of Spotlight's U.K.-based magazines, has been appointed chief executive officer of The Gavin Report, based in San Francisco. PSN Publications, Inc. CEO Paul Gallo has also been appointed to the board.
 The Gavin Report's staff of 28, including the seven journalists who formerly owned the company, will remain with the magazine.
 Morgan-Grampian plc includes all of United Newspapers' business publishing and exhibition companies in the U.K. and continental Europe. Its portfolio includes more than 90 publications -- including 15 weeklies, 36 specialist directories, over 40 exhibitions and a flourishing direct mail operation.
 Morgan-Grampian plc is a member of the United Newspapers Group, the broadly based international publications, exhibitions and information services group. In the U.S. United Newspapers' companies include Miller Freeman, Inc., United Advertising Publications, Inc., Extel Financial Inc., and PR Newswire, Inc.
