Renaissance Services recently organised a Road Show at Crowne Plaza Muscat, to mark their 30th year of creating sustainable value for Oman. Throughout their journey the company has continuously contributed to the economic growth of the Sultanate through its "In Country Value" (ICV) initiatives. These include developing local talent by training and employment, procuring locally by adding local products and services to the company's supply chain and supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs). It was a proud occasion for Renaissance to walk down memory lane and recall the progress they have made over the past three decades.
BP Oman organizes a beach clean up
With the support of the Environment Society of Oman (ESO), BP Oman staff recently participated in a beach clean-up initiative at Al Athaiba beach. This initiative comes under BP's commitment to conserve the beauty of Oman and enhance its environmental status. Dave Campbell, Chief Operating Officer said, "We have worked extensively with the government of Oman to make sure that we manage all the environmental impacts of our operations and we will continue to do this. Not only that, we are also aiming to spread the awareness among different spectrums of the society to help keep Oman beaches beautiful. It was actually a lot of fun to do this with the team."
Oman Road Safety Association raises awareness at Institute of Health Sciences
Oman Road Safety Association (ORSA) recently participated in the activities organised by the Institute of Health Sciences held to raise awareness on road safety among the youth. ORSA presented a lecture on the use of seatbelts and child restraints, the dangers of mobile phones and the importance of speed management as well as adhering to traffic rules and regulations. In addition to the lecture, ORSA opened discussions and showed short videos. The Association's participation in these activities is part of its ongoing youth awareness programme entitled "Be Street Smart" that is supported by Shell Development Oman and Oman Oil Company to educate college and university students on global best practices for road safety.
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) renews partnership with Outward Bound Oman
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has signed a three-year memorandum of understanding with Outward Bound Oman to secure support to the non-governmental organization in its mission to equip the youth of Oman with practical life skills. The MOU was signed by the His Highness Sayyid Faisal Bin Turki Al Said, Patron of Outward Bound and Raoul Restucci, Managing Director of PDO. The renewal of the partnership marks PDO's commitment to building the capacity of Omani youth across the Sultanate through a range of tools and methods. This includes practical training, SME support, women empowerment programmes, exposure opportunities, internships, scholarships and other initiatives aimed at fulfilling the nation's directive to empower Omani youth.
Shell honours winners of Shell Impact Award in Oman
Shell Development Oman recently celebrated the success of two Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) teams in Shell's international "Impact Awards", its annual recognition programme celebrating teams in Shell and affiliated companies who find smart ways to do things more safely, efficiently and cost consciously in upstream oil and gas projects. The Oman event was hosted by Chris Breeze, Shell's Country Chairman, and attended by Raoul Restucci, Managing Director of PDO, members of the two PDO winning teams, as well as Shell and PDO staff and management. The two winning PDO teams were among 509 teams nominated in 21 countries.
Oman oil joins millions around the world for Earth Hour
Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) joined hundreds of millions of people in over 150 countries worldwide to take a stand for Earth Hour 2015. In solidarity with the global movement for energy conservation, the company switched off all non-essential lights at its Burj Al Sahwa Filling Station from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on 28 March. Omanoil has participated in Earth Hour annually since 2012, leading by example to reduce energy consumption for environment preservation.
Petrogas E&P join hands with Azaiba Health Center
As an extension of its commitment to support communities within which they operate, Petrogas E&P, member of MB Holding Group recently provided Azaiba Health Centre with essential aids. The Health Centre located in the capital region, provides basic health care to residents. It houses an in-patient and out-patient department, dental clinic, child & mother care centre as well as a diabetes centre. It also offers assistive & diagnostic services. Yasser Al Mughairy, GM -- HR, Admin & IT, Petrogas E&P, said, "Good health equals a happy and healthy life, so when the Azaiba Health Center came to us with this proposal, we agreed to support them. Through this partnership, we will be better equipped to help the community."
Shell Super Mileage Challenge 2015 tests drivers' skills
Shell Super Mileage Challenge 2015 concluded on 28 March with the winning team showcasing an impressive mileage. The RQ team of Qasim bin Mohammed bin Said Al- Farsi and Rami Jamal Ahmed Ismail won the grand prize of Shell Fuel Cards for 2500 litres of Shell Super petrol each after achieving 19.2 kmpl in a two-litre car. The event was intended to assess the teams' driving skills, with an emphasis on safe and fuel efficient driving. The 100 km, two-stage challenge, extended from North Azaiba Shell Service Station to Oman Dive Centre near Qantab and back. The route had been selected to mirror everyday city-driving conditions -- and to demonstrate how simple changes to driving habits, along with the right fuel, can help to reduce fuel consumption and manage motoring costs.
