MOODY'S ASSIGNS 'Aa' RATING TO GEISINGER AUTHORITY, PA. - GEISINGER
HEALTH SYSTEM HEALTH CARE REVENUE BONDS AND RAYS BONDS
NEW YORK, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective today, Moody's Investors Service assigned an "Aa" rating to the Geisinger Authority, Pennsylvania -- Geisinger Health System's $45,985,000 health care revenue bonds and $20 million health care system revenue bonds (residual adjustable yield securities -- RAYS bonds) selling on Sept. 22, 1992.
Successful development of a diversified, regional health care system serving northeastern and central Pennsylvania, has contributed to favorable utilization trends and a strong market position. As a result of its common ownership and control, the system collectively develops its strategic plan enabling the three major components of the system -- hospital, multi-specialty clinic and health maintenance organization -- to support the common goals of the system. This arrangement has contributed to strong financial performance and a substantial cash position. This cushion, as well as ample debt service coverage, mitigates concern over the system's relatively weak, but stable geographic service area. The combination of these factors as well as the long-standing history of the system provide strong bondholder protection.
