 MONY ELECTS ROTH CEO
 NEW YORK, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mutual Of New York (MONY)


board of trustees has elected Michael I. Roth chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1, 1993, as part of MONY's planned successor management program. Roth, 46, currently holds the position of president and chief operating officer. The announcement was made by James B. Farley, 62, chairman and chief executive officer, who will remain as chairman of the board of trustees and the executive committee of the board.
 Roth joined MONY in March 1989 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. In January 1991, he was elected MONY's president and chief operating officer.
 "Michael's appointment is in recognition of many significant contributions made to our business, including the strategic positioning of MONY for the next century," said Farley.
 From 1982 to 1988, Roth was with Primerica Corp., most recently as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Primerica, Roth was a partner with the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand. A 1967 graduate of the City College of New York, Roth holds a J.D. from Boston University Law School and an L.L.M. from New York University Law School. He and his wife, Carole, have three children.
 The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York -- a 149-year-old mutual life insurance company which sold the nation's first mutual life insurance policy - provides life insurance, disability income, and annuities to individual clients and businesses, as well as full-service pension plans and investment management services to corporations and non-profit organizations. MONY, based in New York, has consolidated assets of $19.1 billion.
