MONTGOMERY WARD, LEADING DEPARTMENT STORE, SELECTS CES
 AS PAYMENT PROCESSOR
NEW YORK, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- CES -- Card Establishment Services, Inc. -- announced today that one of the nation's largest and most successful department stores, Montgomery Ward, has contracted with CES to provide MasterCard and Visa processing services. Montgomery Ward began processing with CES on Oct. 20.
Montgomery Ward is one of the nation's largest retail merchandising organizations. Headquartered in Chicago, the company offers a broad range of nationally known brands, as well as its own private label goods. The company operates approximately 350 locations nationwide.
CES is the leader in payment processing with over 20 years' experience in transaction processing including credit cards, debit cards, proprietary cards, checks and other payment types. As credit/debit card usage grows, payment processing becomes more important than ever to businesses who accept cards for payment.
Montgomery Ward cited CES' product innovation, technical superiority and customer service excellence as the principal factors in their decision to select CES as their payment processor.
"We were looking for a payment processor who could most effectively meet the unique operational requirements of our many diverse store locations," said Tom Bussey, credit services manager at Montgomery Ward. "We chose CES primarily because of their superior technological back office operations, and image capture capabilities," Mr. Bussey said. Mr. Bussey commented further that CES Link and the CES Chargeback Defense System, two of the latest CES technological developments, were influential factors in Montgomery Ward's selection of CES as their payment processor.
The CES Chargeback Defense System is artificial intelligence software (expert systems) that utilizes image processing capabilities to reduce the costs and time associated with preventing and resolving chargeback claims. This CES proprietary system is recognized as the most effective chargeback prevention tool in the industry and can reduce up to 50 percent of chargebacks before they ever reach a business.
CES Link is an innovative PC software product from CES in a Windows environment that turns a PC into a complete customer service workstation. With CES Link, clients gain real time access directly from their own office locations to information on deposits, payments and settlement. This enables clients to manage the financial aspects of their business more effectively, as well as expedite chargeback resolution and sales draft requests.
"We're utilizing advanced technology to deliver a new level of cost- effective payment processing with a particular emphasis on service quality," said John C. Elliott, president of CES. "With the development of innovative products and our dedication to service excellence, we're continually finding ways to improve every aspect of the consumer payment system, from reducing transaction authorization time to assisting our clients in avoiding fraud and chargeback issues," Mr. Elliott noted.
CES provides electronic credit card processing through its proprietary CARDnet transaction delivery system. CARDnet delivers fast, accurate transaction authorizations and settlement via a controlled environment featuring toll-free communications.
CES develops and markets a full range of credit and debit card processing services including support for MasterCard, Visa, Diners Club, Discover, American Express, JCB and enRoute as well as check verification/guarantee services. The company has over 45,000 clients encompassing more than 115,000 locations nationwide.
Headquartered on Long Island, N.Y., CES has operations and customer service facilities in Hagerstown, Md., and Melville, N.Y. In addition, regional sales support offices are located in California, Texas, Illinois, Maryland and New Jersey.
