 MONTANA PRECISION MINING NAMES DIRECTOR
SPOKANE, Wash., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Montana Precision Mining

Ltd. (NASDAQ: MPML) announced today that the board of directors has nominated Alfred J. Luciano to the position of director of the company. Luciano will serve as an acting director until his nomination can be ratified by a vote of the shareholders.
In a related matter, the company announced that the federal trial involving Luciano was dismissed at the conclusion of the government's case. Company legal counsel, L. He added, "The unusual directed verdict came after nine days of testimony by government witnesses."
The company in addition announced that a 1991 year-end summary of exploration work completed on their properties was recently received from Hecla Mining Co. (NYSE: HL). The report stated that Hecla had accomplished the following:
-- Compilation of all previous work done on the properties

 -- Five 100-foot long trenches
-- 14 reverse circulation drill holes totalling 2,790 feet
 -- Building data base files
-- An annual report of activities is in progress
Company President Charles A. Romberg stated that "we are very pleased with the work completed by Hecla and we remain encouraged over the potential of our properties."
On July 10, 1991, the company announced it had entered into an exploration and development agreement with Hecla Mining Co. In addition, Hecla also signed a similar agreement with U.S. Minerals Exploration Co. covering adjacent properties. MPML management announced that Hecla had brought under their control the entire contiguous area, one that historically has produced large amounts of precious metals.
