MONOPOLY -- THE WORLD'S MOST POPULAR BOARD GAME -- NOW AVAILABLE IN THE
PALM OF YOUR HAND; AVAILABLE FOR NINTENDO'S GAME BOY SYSTEM
BEVERLY, Mass., Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- MONOPOLY(R), the world's most popular board game, is now at the tips of America's fingers as Parker Brothers introduces a version designed for Nintendo's Game Boy. The Game Boy version of MONOPOLY, which will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Jan. 9, maintains all the original features of the classic board game, with the added convenience and portability of Nintendo's Game Boy.
The world's love affair with the MONOPOLY game continues to grow stronger with the introduction of new and exciting ways to play. In January 1991, Parker Brothers introduced a version of the MONOPOLY game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
"The most popular board game of the past 55 years continues to adapt to the wave of the future, with the newest portable game format," said Alfred C. Carosi, Parker Brothers' senior vice president of marketing. "Kids and adults can play three versions of the MONOPOLY game -- the classic board game, the fast-paced NES, and now enthusiasts can play in the palm of their hands with the new portable Game Boy system."
The Game Boy version of the MONOPOLY game, full of the same wheeling and dealing excitement and strategy as the classic board game, can be played by one or with up to four friends. As with the MONOPOLY NES game, players can take on up to eight computer opponents, each with his or her own skill level to challenge even the most proficient players. Other key features include computer tracking so the player can concentrate on big business strategy, not bookkeeping.
Parker Brothers' MONOPOLY Game Boy is currently available at a suggested retail price of $29.99.
Parker Brothers is owned by Hasbro, Inc. (AMEX: HAS), the world's largest toy and game company. MONOPOLY is Parker Brothers' registered trademark for its real estate trading game.
