 MONAGHAN ANNOUNCES DETROIT TIGERS SALE
DETROIT, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas S. Monaghan announced today

that he has signed a definitive agreement to sell the Detroit Tigers Baseball Club to Michael Ilitch.
Ilitch will acquire the Tigers for an undisclosed price. Monaghan initially announced his intention to divest himself of the Tigers in March 1992 in order to focus on his core Domino's Pizza business.
"Selling the Tigers to Mike Ilitch is in the best interest of Detroit, given his dedication to the city, his experience in operating the Detroit Red Wings, and his commitment to carrying on the Tigers' tradition," Monaghan said.
"The future of the Tigers organization is now in the good hands of the Ilitches. I wish them well," Monaghan concluded.
Completion of the sale is subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions, including approval of owners in both the American and National leagues. A closing is expected soon.
Monaghan has owned the Tigers since 1983, during which time the team won the World Series in 1984 and the American League Eastern Division title in 1987.
