MOMIX on the moon.

Is there life on the moon? Yes, if you go there with MOMIX. Artistic director Moses Pendleton takes us on a trip to the moon in his latest full-evening work, Lunar Sea. It takes off at MOMIX's season at the Joyce Theater, May 10-29. Gravity-defying mooniacs drift and multiply, shimmer and disappear like the phases of the moon in this mythic re-imagining of the celestial orb. Forget the Apollo missions, Pendleton's vision follows in the tradition of Georges Melies' charming 1902 film, A Trip to the Moon. The lunar locals include puppets designed by Michael Curry, who co-designed puppets and masks for The Lion King on Broadway. Pendleton's company celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. His last full-length work Opus Cactus, which explored desert terrain and features four men as one slithering lizard, will also be performed during the season. See www.joyce.org.
