MOBILE INFORMATION SERVICES ACTIVATES STAGEWORKS CONVERSION BUREAU AUTOMATION CENTER (CBAC)

CHICAGO, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Information Services (MIS) announced today during a press conference at the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) Show that it has completed implementing in its Baltimore facility a StageWorks Conversion Bureau Automation Center (CBAC) system provided by INTRAFED, Inc. Mobile Information Services is one of the largest microfilm conversion, and now digitized imaging conversion, companies within the Mid-Atlantic region.
"The StageWorks CBAC provided by INTRAFED solidly established our Baltimore Conversion Center as both a microfilm and digitized `image processor,'" said Charles Hudson, digital products manager of MIS. "Many service bureau companies have defined their business solely as that of source document microfilming. Mobile Information has defined its business as one of total `image' processing and delivery, and our new installation of the StageWorks CBAC firmly illustrates our belief in that refined business focus," said Hudson.
The StageWorks CBAC system installed by INTRAFED includes one KODAK IMAGELINK 990 Scanner/Microimager, which simultaneously scans and microfilms up to 120 pages (240 pages duplex) a minute. The StageWorks CBAC system also includes the INTRAFED PowerScan scanning subsystem, a core StageWorks Administration system, one Visual Quality Control (VQC)/Indexing station, one Rework Station with a Fujitsu 3096 Scanner, and one soon-to-be installed optical character recognition (OCR) station (with a Calera Millennium subsystem). Microfilm scanning will also be implemented during the second quarter. Together, the StageWorks CBAC can ensure customers of Mobile Information Services up to a 100 percent confidence level of all images scanned into a library, if a customer so desires.
"Such a quality assurance level of confidence is, we believe, previously unheard of in the digital imaging business," said Hudson, adding, "We are pleased to now be able to offer our digital customers such levels of confidence and assurity."
Hudson also said that "Mobile Information would also like to mention that after receiving all the component system equipment, INTRAFED had us integrated and trained within two weeks of final equipment delivery."
Kenneth E. Tighe, vice president of business development for INTRAFED, said, "With a system specifically designed for the needs of conversion bureaus, INTRAFED is able to offer such bureau's, and in turn the conversion bureau's customers, proven technology that provides levels of quality up to each component system's full potential."
