 MOBIL TO START UP NEW PHOSPHATE MINE IN FLORIDA
 FAIRFAX, Va., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobil Mining and Minerals


Company, a unit of Mobil Corporation (NYSE: MOB), said today it is proceeding with development of its South Ft. Meade phosphate rock reserve in central Florida. The reserve contains more than 100 million tons of high quality recoverable phosphate rock. The development work includes stringent safeguards for protection of the environment and wildlife.
 Mining facilities are being constructed with initial capability of producing 3.5 million tons per year. Some of the equipment is being transferred from a recently depleted mine, including three draglines already on-site. Start-up is forecast within three years.

 Mobil has been a major phosphate rock producer for approximately 30 years and operates two other mines in central Florida.
