MOBIL TO CONSOLIDATE COMPUTER OPERATIONS

 MOBIL TO CONSOLIDATE COMPUTER OPERATIONS
FAIRFAX, Va., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobil Corporation (NYSE: MOB)

said today it is consolidating its Princeton, N.J., and Dallas computer centers into one at the existing Dallas location. The decision reflects Mobil's commitment to restructure its business where appropriate to enhance its competitive position within the industry.
The two centers handle Mobil's telecommunications and domestic data processing needs, encompassing the hardware and software that drive its basic business systems and that enable Mobil employees to communicate with each other around the world.
The Princeton center will be closed in stages over the next year, beginning this September and ending by mid-1993.
About 30 jobs will be eliminated as a result of the consolidation. Every effort will be made to find jobs for Princeton employees who wish to relocate.
Mobil employs about 1,500 people at the Princeton Technical Center, including about 140 at the computer center. The Dallas computer center currently employs about 180 people.
The construction now under way of a new office building at the Princeton Technical Center to bring employees from Carnegie Center on Route 1 to the Technical Center will continue on schedule.
