MOBIL SELLS LPG INTERESTS IN TURKEY AND NEW GUINEA FOR $26.8 MILLION

FAIRFAX, Va., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobil Corporation (NYSE: MOB) said today that two of its affiliates, Mobil Oil Turk A.S. and Mobil Oil New Guinea, Ltd., recently sold liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) interests. Mobil Oil Turk A.S. sold its 56-percent interest in two marketing companies to Aygaz, a major marketer of LPG in Turkey, and to Koc Holding, a substantial shareholder in Aygaz. The Turkish sale was for $25 million. In addition, Mobil Oil New Guinea sold its LPG business to the Australian firm Boral for $1.8 million.
Both sales were in LPG markets where Mobil had been a relatively minor factor and are aspects of Mobil's continuing strategy to concentrate resources and assets in the company's areas of strength.
