MOBIL LAUNCHES REFUELING JOINT VENTURE AT DUBAI'S AIRPORT
FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobil Corporation said today it has commenced an aviation refueling joint venture with Emirates General Petroleum Corporation at Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the Persian Gulf.
Mobil and its partner have built a state-of-the art fuels depot incorporating storage tanks, filtration, and control systems for dispensing fuel to aircraft via a hydrant network. The inaugural deliveries at the field were to Emirates Airlines, the national airline of Dubai, Kuwait Airlines, the national airline of Kuwait, and Cargolux, a large air-freight carrier based in Luxembourg. The venture will also handle deliveries of Mobil's aviation lubricants to other customers.
Dubai International Airport is a strong regional hub for air travel and cargo in the Middle East, with a current jet-fuel volume of 280 million gallons per year. Three other marketers, besides the new joint venture, have refueling facilities at the airport.
Mobil supplies jet fuel and premium aviation lubricants to many leading airlines at more than a hundred major international airports around the world.
