MOBIL CHEMICAL INTRODUCES NEW POLYETHYLENE RESIN

MOBIL CHEMICAL INTRODUCES NEW POLYETHYLENE RESIN
FAIRFAX, Va., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobil Chemical Company said

today it is introducing a new polyethylene resin that can make plastic film products up to 30 percent thinner than most of today's products without loss of strength. The thinner film means that significantly less polyethylene would be needed to do the same job.
The product is a new type of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) resin used to make a variety of plastic films from consumer and industrial trash-can liners, to stretch wrap for shipping products, laminating films, newspaper and mailer bags, carpet overwrap, and infectious waste bags.
The new resin, called Super Strength, was developed at Mobil's research laboratory in Edison, N.J. It is being manufactured at Mobil's polyethylene plant in Beaumont, Texas.
Polyethylene film processors will be able to use up to 30 percent less Super Strength resin to produce a thinner film with the same high performance standards, Mobil said. It can be used to produce blown films with very high impact and tear strength. It can be processed on any extrusion line now using other linear low density polyethylene resins without equipment modification.
Three grades of the Super Strength resins are available to meet a wide range of film applications.
The Super Strength resin is produced with a new Mobil-developed catalyst.
