 MOBIL AND YANKEE 24 LAUNCH NEW ENGLAND-WIDE DEBIT CARD PAYMENT OPTION
 WALLINGFORD, Conn., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Purchasing gasoline in New England now has added convenience as the result of a new payment option offered by Mobil Oil Corporation and Yankee 24, the New England automated teller machine (ATM) network, it was announced today.
 The two companies have joined forces to allow Yankee 24's 5.2 million cardholders to use their QuickPay ATM cards to purchase Mobil gasoline and services at nearly 1,500 participating Mobil stations throughout New England and 7,000 more participating Mobil locations across the nation.
 "We're pleased to have launched such a relationship with Mobil," said Richard P. Yanak, president of Yankee 24, which has pioneered debit programs in New England supermarkets over the past year. "Through Yankee 24 QuickPay, debit transactions on Mobil gasoline and services can now be made. This service offers convenience and value for motorists."
 "Customers tell us they want their purchases to be convenient and quick," said Jim Mann, Mobil's vice-president for U.S. Marketing. "Our link with Yankee 24 is another step we've taken to meet our customers' needs."
 Mobil's electronic payment system, which can be used by nearly 100 million cardholders, is the largest retail debit card system in the nation. The system accepts not only Mobil credit cards but also virtually every major credit card, as well as bank cards from most regional bank ATM networks.
 Based in Wallingford, Yankee 24 is the largest shared electronic funds network in New England. It has more than 700 affiliated banks and credit unions, 4,000 ATMs and an ATM cardbase of 5.2 million, averaging to about one per household in New England.
