(C)2014 M2 COMMUNICATIONS
4 November 2014 - US-based MO BIO Laboratories Inc, specialising in soil, stool and microbial nucleic acid purification, said Tuesday it had introduced its PowerMag Blood DNA/RNA Isolation Kit for automated, hands-free purification of nucleic acids from blood samples.
The kit utilises the Thermo Scientific KingFisher automated processing system and other similar automation platforms to offer hands-free purification.
PowerMag Blood Kit works with all blood types and provides automated isolation of high yields of nucleic acids from fresh and frozen whole blood, buffy coat, plasma and stabilised blood. The product features novel ClearMag magnetic particle technology, which captures both DNA and RNA without binding common blood-derived PCR inhibitors, facilitating isolation of pure nucleic acids for use in PCR, RT-PCR, microarrays and next-generation sequencing.
The kit is part of MO BIO's PowerMag range of DNA and RNA isolation kits, which include products for nucleic acid isolation from soil, microbial and food cultures, water and air filters, seeds and stool. The kit has been validated with fresh blood, including blood stored in PAXgene Tubes and in the RNAgard Blood System. This is the first high-throughput, hands-free kit available to co-isolate high yields of both DNA and RNA, the firm noted.
