MMW/STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS TO REPRESENT REPUBLIC OF SLOVAKIA THROUGH SLOVAK NATIONAL AGENCY FOR FOREIGN INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT (SNAFID)

WASHINGTON, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Radovan Peknik, director of the Slovak National Agency for Foreign Investment and Development (SNAFID), announced today that MWW/Strategic Communications, Inc. (MWW/SC), the fastest growing public relations firm in the United States, has been retained by the newly founded Republic of Slovakia to assist it in strengthening American ties, expanding trade, promoting investment and increasing United States tourism.
On MWW/SC's selection, Peknik said, "After reviewing various proposals it was obvious that only MWW/SC had the right combination of Central European expertise and American resources and capabilities to successfully satisfy our unique national and international objectives."
"We are particularly honored with our appointment by SNAFID and view our assignment as a public trust to the people of Slovakia as well as the United States since there are some 2,000,000 citizens here of Slovakian ancestry," added Michael Kempner, president of MWW/SC.
After a thousand years, the Republic of Slovakia finally achieved independence on Jan. 1, 1993, upon the dissolution of the 75 year old Czechoslovakian federation. Slovakia is a parliamentary democracy with a population of 5.3 million people and a territory of 19,000 square miles. At the center of European commerce, it is bounded on the east by Ukraine, southwest by Austria, Hungary on the south, Poland to the north and the Czech Republic to the west. Its capital, Bratislava, situated on the Danube, is renowned as the "City of Fountains."
Slovakia's educated work force, free market economy and abundant resources have already attracted investments of $200 million over the past three years from numerous Western firms. Meanwhile, Slovakia's natural beauty plays host to one million tourists yearly in search of the country's famous health spas and challenging Carpathian Mountain skiing.
MWW/Strategic Communications, Inc. is a full service public and governmental relations agency with expertise in areas including public affairs, business-to-business, environmental, insurance, consumer, legal, financial, international, real estate and special event planning. The firm was recently rated in the top 30 independent public relations agencies in the nation. Headquartered in River Edge, N.J., MWW/SC maintains offices in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Boston, New York and Trenton.
