MMA, DA and EPA finalized 7 sites for dumping marble waste.

BUNER -- The troika comprising Malakand Marble Association, District Administration and Environmental Protection Agency in a joint meeting held in chair of Assistant Commissioner Revenue Mohammad Iqbal Wazir in Daggar on Friday after long discussions finalized seven points for dumping the marble factories waste as per directives of the Peshawar High court.
The EPA chief environmentalist Shamsur Rehman repeated the honorable court directives would have to honour before next date of hearing 10th of next month. The Malakand Marble association officer bearers Barkat Ali, Murad Khan, Gul Roz Khan, Mussa Jan, Abdul Wakeel, Khurshed Khan and others mentioned seven points in the district i.e. Gadezai,Salarzai, Torwarsak, Daggar, Gagra,Baba Jee Kandow and Chamla.
The meeting agreed upon a committee comprising one member each from MMA, DA and EPA will visit the sites and will pin point a specific location for turning it into dump. The meeting agreed upon the committee will initiate work from 31st of this month on Monday.
The meeting agreed upon this was a short term solution and suggested long term permanent solution Marble City in the district where in the investors will improve business and to help improve income for investors, labourers, transporters and locals as well.
The MMA spokes person Syed Barkat Ali said that there were 304 functional marble factories in the district which direct and indirect benefit more than 50000 families right from land owners to table boy in small hotels and cleaner with transports. He was worried about the future of this industry in case the government and donors did not pave heed to stabilize.
