MLIRC calls on employers to report vacancies on NIEIS portal.
The Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation (MLIREC) is urging all Designated Employers (DEs) to report vacancies on the Namibia Integrated Employment Information System (NIEIS) as legally required.
NIEIS is a statutory database that collects, stores and updates information concerning the names, qualifications and occupation of job-seekers, vacancies in the labour market, as well as specialized skills and qualifications possessed by Namibian citizens and permanent residents.
According to a statement availed to Nampa on Monday, all DEs must notify the Employment Services Bureau (ESB) of vacancies or new positions in their establishment as stipulated in the Employment Act Number eight of 2011.
'NIEIS will help employers to employ registered jobseekers directly from the system,' read the statement.
Thus, according to the Act, requires employers to report back on the recruitment or vacancies that have been filled within 30 days after the closing of such vacancies.
In terms of cost-saving, employers will no longer advertise vacancies and have the liberty to choose from 90 000 jobseekers on the system depending on the job requirement.
Amongst others, NIEIS supports and contributes to well-coordinated and manages national employment creation efforts in the country.
NIEIS will help employers to have access to a variety of online resumes and the system enables them to match the job seekers to available opportunities.
In addition, the registered job seekers will be able to manage their online recommences, search and apply for available opportunities online and have them updated, permanently stored and available for viewing by interested employers.
