 MK-LED JOINT VENTURE RECEIVES CONTRACT FOR $295.5-MILLION
 AMTRAK ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT IN NORTHEASTERN UNITED STATES
 BOISE, Idaho, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Morrison Knudsen Corp. (MK) (NYSE: MRN) announced today receipt of an approximately $295.5-million contract by an MK-led joint venture from the National Railroad Passenger Corp. (Amtrak) for design and construction of the electrification of Amtrak's rail line between New Haven, Conn., and Boston.
 On April 14, MK, as sponsor (60 percent), L.K. Comstock & Co., and Spie Group Inc. were selected by Amtrak to design and build the electrification system. The contract was signed this week in Philadelphia. Notice to proceed on the 13-month design phase is expected next week.
 The project covers 157 route miles (360 single-track miles). The New Haven-Boston route is the only segment of the Northeast Corridor between Washington, D.C., and Boston where Amtrak still employs diesel-powered locomotives.
